Laser treatment of vascular disorders (whole body)
Laser treatment of vascular disorders is a uniquely effective procedure for treating superficial or deeper, dilated varicose veins, thicker angiomas, as well as broom veins of the lower limbs, without damaging the surface of the skin.
Who is the treatment recommended for?
The treatment is recommended if the skin is affected by vasodilation and if there are lentil-sized angiomas on the skin.
When treating thin or moderately thick vasodilation on the surface of the skin, the laser light is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood, thereby specifically heating the dilated blood vessels. As the blood vessels are heated, the walls of the blood vessels constrict and become blocked. The treatment does not damage the surface of the skin while removing problematic blood vessels.
The procedure is also recommended for people who have developed superficial varicose veins – spider veins – in their lower limbs (e.g. thighs, shins, ankles) due to their physique, a lifestyle-related strain (standing work), or pregnancy. It is important to note that we only ever treat the problematic, dilated veins in the area of their occurrence, even on both lower limbs at the same time.
For what purposes can the treatment be used?
- Dilated capillaries on the legs and face
Areas of application
The nose and cheeks, both sides of the face or the whole face, neck, décolleté, or any part of the body with disturbing vasodilation or lentil-sized angiomas can be treated. Several regions can be treated at the same time.
Preparation of the treatment
At the consultation preceeding the initial treatment, we determine whether you are suitable for the treatment and, in the case of a facial treatment, a diagnostic photo is taken with the Visia device. Light protection and avoidance of direct sunlight is recommended for 14 days prior to treatment.
The treatment
The procedure involves using a precise operating head to deliver short, spot-like pulses of light to the skin. The adjacent areas of skin are then treated. Cold air cooling is used so that the treatment can be easily tolerated.
Ability to work, home care
The treatment may cause moderate discomfort. We usually recommend 1-2 days rest after the procedure. After a leg treatment, the wearing of a roll bandage or compression stockings is recommended for 2 weeks. The treated area may become reddened and swollen like a band. The hemorrhagic patches will disappear in 1-3 weeks in the area of the treated blood vessels.
The treated skin requires careful home care. Sun protection for up to 1 month is recommended. On the face, redness and purple “hemorrhages” will appear, which can be covered with makeup and will disappear within 4-5 days.
Number of treatments
Results are visible after the first treatment, but repeat treatments may be necessary after 4-6 months, as this is the time needed for the final results to develop.
